Level IB Fieldwork at Pacific University is an eight week, part-time (4 hours/1 day/week) experience. Facilities are chosen based on select settings in which primarily psychosocial services are provided, to apply theories and techniques to practice group interventions. This course includes concurrent seminar sessions to reflect on experience. (Description of Level 1 Fieldwork Courses, 2014)
My Experience
For my level IB fieldwork, I worked with Washington County Community Corrections in the Leisure Exploration for Treatment Program. In this program, an occupational therapists works with individuals who were convicted of crimes related to their drug or substance use to explore alternative, healthy leisure opportunities to pursue during their time in jail and upon release.
